SET-LIBER
Archive & Retrieve Management

Situation

Existing backup/restore-processes aim to provide fast and up-to-date recovery of data in the event of any problems (Disaster-Recovery).

To save time during backups and to allow for the need to have stand-alone-capability to restore data, the common backup/restore-tools are mainly based on a physical backup-process. The disk-volumes are stored completely or partially on tapes/cassettes and, if required, backed up to disk ie. there is no targeted access to single members possible. Because, under normal circumstances, the latest status of data is required for restore purposes, only a few generations of tapes/cassettes are available for a short time period.

Solution using SET-LIBER Archive Management

SET-LIBER's Archive/Restore solves the specific problem relating to the restore requests at the document version level and the reconstruction requirements for archived SET-LIBER documents, by a logical data security and restoration process.

The legal requirement is that all versions of the software documents should be stored for a period of up to ten years. For targeted archive and restore SET-LIBER's Archive/Restore operates at the document version level. When reconstruction is required for archived SET-LIBER documents, the tapes or cassettes will be specifically targeted and only the necessary version of each related document will be restored.
