Situation
The management of programs, Job-Control-Streams and other documents frequently
does not meet security, audit and documentation requirements. Typical short-falls
in existing processes during creation and the processing of documents are:
- Documents (e.g. programs, program parts) may be lost
by non recoverable errors during processing by users.
- The creation and the usage of configurations (ie.a
freely definable combination of interdependent documents) are not supported
by the existing system.
- Preceding statuses of single documents up to complete
configurations cannot be rebuilt.
- The documentation of program changes is not controlled
by any management system.
- Information about life-cycles of documents and configurations
is either not available, incomplete or out of date.
- Unchecked and unauthorised access to documents is possible
for any user, creating a security risk.
- Existing methods of document management are very costly.
The ability of the whole data-processing-department to
function is endangered if there are any weaknesses in this range.
Solution using SET-LIBER Change Management
End-user training is not required to take advantage of
the following benefits of SET-LIBER:
- All data-processing documents are managed in one common
Change Management System (for example, 3GL, 4GL, Job Control Streams, configuration
and project descriptions).
- The process for document management is mandatory.
- All changes within the document management are capable
of reconstruction and are auditable.
- The whole document management system is protected against
any unauthorised modifications.
- All operations within the document management system
leave an audit trail and, should the occasion arise, can be cancelled.
- A complete history file is maintained, any given status
of every document from the past can be reconstructed.
- Standard functions of the relevant operating system
are used for all accesses and data transfers within the document management
system, - future releases are secure.
