Typical current situation

The following requirements are usually not catered for within company specifications for program maintenance, they create potential security issues:

• A document status in production, which is being processed by a user in his development environment at the same time, has to be changed for production immediately (Hot-Fix).
• A complete application which is already in use by production has to be modified and tested. The changes should not take effect before a particular date in the future. The objects have to be maintainable for the current production usage. While preparing the new version of this application the user(s) should be aware of all parallel changes in documents within production- and preparation- environment.
• The management and, if necessary, maintenance of third-party software which is available in source-code format, should be managed using the same company specifications relating to correction and reconstruction of in-house software.

Solution using SET-LIBER/External

The SET-LIBER/External feature supports controlled and recorded document transfer between various SET-LIBER Systems.

During the processing and, in particular, immediately before the transfer of individual documents, configurations or complete applications from one SET-LIBER system (eg. the preparation-system) to another SET-LIBER system (eg. the production-system), the end-user can have the following information immediately available

• Which files are only available in one system or in both systems?
• Which files are changed in one system or in both systems?
• Which files are identical in both systems?
• Which files are different in both systems, and how are they different?

The transfer process is partially or totally possible and is based on the pre-defined company's rules. The ability to reconstruct is guaranteed by SET-LIBER.
